A BOY WITH HIS PET RAT
Once upon a time, in a village called lived a guy named Shaun. He had a pet named Chalu. Chalu was a rat. They always had fun together. Shaun lived with his parents in a 3 bedroom house. His parents hated Chalu because he was messy and a mouse in the house, “BOY!!!” Shaun would take Chalu for a walk on the Horamavu streets every morning and evening. They had meals n naps together.
One day Shaun had to leave Chalu at home and go on a picnic with his bunch of friends from school. Though he was excited about the picnic, Shaun did not want to leave the rodent back in the house. He was in a dilemma while his mom packed his picnic kit wit clothes and lots of snacks. Guess what went in with the snacks???... IT WAS CHALU!!!
Shaun looked around the house next morning and he could not find Chalu. Chalu was not caged; he was free to move about since Shaun has all the trust in the world for him. This time Shaun felt the absence. . He left with the kit assuming Chalu also wanted to move on. He was badly missed.
Shaun took a city bus and reached the school gate by 8:00 AM. All his school mates were ready with their kits and waiting to get into the tour bus which was scheduled to leave at 9:00 AM. Shaun told his friends about Chalu. Since he was enquired as to why he was so silent at the wrong time. His friends were kind enough to console him and took him aboard. Shaun studied in a not so reputed school but they had strict rules. Kids were supposed to maintain cleanliness and discipline. The bus left the school campus 10 mins past the schedule time, since, the principal was LATE!! CAN U BELIEVE THAT??!
Soon they took off into the city roads and after hours of journey, they reached the amusement park. Everybody got down from the bus spent some time n got back in. All the kids were having great time except shaun, who was worried wondering about Chalu. but then, he heard something move in his kit and opened it to see what was in there. To his astonishment [and not ours ;)] there was CHALU! He pampered the pet in happiness but quickly calmed down and covered Chalu as his teachers were around. He slowly but quickly got the news echoing in his friends’ ears. Everybody were excited for him. Happier times! Soon he started pesterin Chalu for fun. They went for all the rides in the park.
It was 2:00 pm, lunch time! The teachers took them to Udupi restaraunt, one of the best hotels around. After lunch the students were allowed to hop on the rides till 5:00 pm after which they had to head back to school. It was three quarters past four and all of them wanted to take one last ride on the giant wheel.
At sharp 5 everybody were in the bus n they were all set to get back to school. The amusement park was located outside the city. The bus had to go through a forest for about a 13kms to reach the highway. It was dark as they got closer to the roadways. Out of fear the students shut the windows and closed their eyes out of fear. A sudden jerk and the bus came to a HALT! For about 5mins none of the students , teachers or the driver moved. The clock kept ticking on shauns new FAST TRACK. It was 06:45 and pitch dark. As the darkness conquered the head lights went off! Something was wrong, probably the radiator had to be filled but nobody had the guts to do it. The students got to whispering and that got the teachers into shh-ing them repeatedly.
Shaun got up and slowly went near the door, he turned the door knob and the driver turned to him and said- “go in; how dare! You want us killed?? Jump off the window if you got plans to suicide!!” that hurt the kid , he got back to the seat.
They spent another hour trying to figure out a way. The principal and teachers had cell phones but no network coverage and SCREW IT!!
Meanwhile, chalu had slipped off shaun’s kit and was on the roof of the bus. He then saw a huge elephant coming towards the bus. The elephant started smacking the windows at the back and that was really giving students the scare of their lives, even the teachers had their hearts in their mouths. The driver was biting his teeth!
Again after some clicks the pounding had stopped, what had happened?? The bus was sinking in one of the quick sand thingies!! People inside were crying for help. But nobody could hear them around.
Meanwhile the elephant turned around to walk away..
SNAP!he was caught in a net..
Can u imagine an elephant caught in the net??? The hunters had left traps to hold tigers in them but unfortunate for the elephant. “no chance of escape for the maniac” shaun said looking at the elephant and and crying for help.
WHOM HAVE WE FORGOTTEN INBETWEEN ALL THIS??
THE HERO!!
Chalu gets off the top of the bus, jumps on to a branch nearby still hanging down the tree branch not far away from the drowning bus. He quickly jumps across another branch, runs faster than a cheetah :P and gnaws down the net to free the monster . The elephant was real thankfull to the rodent. He ran at full speed to the bus and quickly looked at the driver. The driver didn’t have a clue. He thought the elephant is free and now HEAVEN OR HELL, here I come!
Meanwhile chalu got back into the bus and told him what had happened. Shaun somehow understood that chalu was the one who freed the elephant. He stood up and asked the driver to get to the roof of the bus quickly and grab some ropes to tie it on the legs of the elephant as well as the bus. The elephant pushed the tree branch for the driver to cling onto. The bus was pulled out and kids along with teachers were rescued. Every body thanked shaun and his brilliant rodent J. The elephant slowly walked away after he looked at chalu for one last time as in saying “LITTLE THINGS DO MAKE A HUGE DIFFERENCE . THANKS MATE!” , like he was an aussie.
Anyway, they went back to the school and it was 9:25pm. as expected Parents were waiting in a obvious kinda way! All worried !!!
Soon their questions were pouring.
The principal got on to the top of the diaz and said
“Monday morning, special day, be present one and all”
Everybody went home, while children answered their parents. Shaun holding his proud pet, walked to his parents and told them how great he was..
